Homeopathy does away with the surgeon’s knife!

Come summer and one sees people frantically trying to beat the heat with cold drinks, juicy fruits and vegetables, ice-creams, and air-conditioning. This could be one of the reasons for increased incidences of viral infections and tonsillitis in summer. Tonsillitis is a commonly encountered childhood problem.

Six-year-old Ankush, who suffered from recurrent episodes of tonsillitis, was brought with pain in the throat and difficulty in swallowing. At times, he could not open his mouth and also complained of breathlessness. Antibiotics had to be given each time and his paediatrician advised surgery, something his parents did not want to opt for. Taking into consideration the child’s dull memory, inability to grasp things and profuse sweating, Baryta Carb 200 was prescribed. Subsequently, the frequency and intensity of his problem reduced to such an extent that his paediatrician gave him a clean chit and surgery was avoided.

Tonsillitis is considered to be caused by bacteria or viruses that are contagious. Avoiding contact with a person already suffering from tonsillitis can help to lower the risk of transmission. Homeopathy safely and gently helps in boosting the body’s defense mechanisms to make the person immune to such infections. In many such cases, surgery can be definitely avoided! During the acute episode, the intake of soft and easy-to-swallow food, warm drinks, and soups is recommended with the avoidance of spicy food. Warm water gargles with salt and honey helps in soothing the throat. Taking rest is essential. Belladonna 30 can be taken during the first stage of inflammation in tonsillitis, while Hepar Sulph 30 can be given for tonsillitis with bacterial infection.
