People love believing what’s presented in front of them without injecting efforts into finding out whether it’s actually true. If you aren’t one of them, this blog is definitely for you! There are clingy myths which revolve around eczema. It’s better to clear the air around this disease for better understanding.

Myth 1: Eczema is contagious

Rather than contagious, eczema is a genetic condition. Even if you are suffering from skin eczema, there aren’t any chances that you’ll pass it on further by simply maintain a brief physical contact. This remains true the other way around as well. No, you won’t be diagnosed with eczema merely due to touching someone who does.

Myth 2: Daily baths will aggravate eczema

Regular bathing is alright as long as you take care of certain points. Prefer using creams and soap substitutes available exclusively for patients with eczema. Heat can elevate flare-ups which is why you should prefer cold showers or lukewarm water as opposed to scorching hot showers. Avoiding bubble baths can be another precaution as it strips your skin off of any natural oils. While depriving yourself of bubble baths is painful but considering the comfort you’ll be getting in return, we’d say it’s a decent bargain you’d be striking.

Myth 3: I can’t go swimming if I’ve eczema

Lather yourself with preventive cream and dive into the pool right away. It is true that chlorine may irritate your skin but taking preventive measures will always help. Once done, you can shower with cream wash and make sure you’re all moisturized.

Myth 4: Eczema is a children’s disease

Yes, it’s true that atopic dermatitis is likely to start in childhood and sometimes symptoms improve for adults. But eczema isn’t entirely a children’s disease. Adults suffer from eczema as well.

Myth 5: Eczema will leave you with permanent scar damage

It completely depends on the severity and intensity of scars you have. If you refrain from excessive scratching, you will definitely reduce your chances of permanent scarring. Regardless, scars from eczema do fade away with time.

Myth 6: Eczema and psoriasis are the same

Looks can be deceptive which clearly explains the case here. Even though psoriasis and eczema share visual traits, these two skin conditions and quite different. With eczema, the itching can be pretty intense as opposed to psoriasis. However, opting for homeopathic medicine for eczema and psoriasis can help to a great extent.

Myth 7: Eczema clears up all by itself

If you turn a deaf ear to your eczema and leave it untreated, it can spread to other areas and cause inflammation and infection. It’s a no brainer that treating your skin eczema promptly is the key to stopping it from spreading further. The math is simple. The inflammation is more and hence you scratch more. This will organically make your eczema worse.  Hence, you should act fast and treat your eczema before the spiteful itch-inflammation-infection cycle begins.
