‘Oh, you just got a clean shirt on and it’s already soaking wet?’

Part of the fun of outdoor activities is complaining about sweating no matter what the weather!

You may have heard people say that its body’s way of detoxing but the fact is that sweat is not made up of toxins from your body. It is rather your body’s own air conditioning system which activates when your body becomes too hot. Your body releases water on your skin, which then evaporates in order to cool down to the normal temperature of 98.6°F (37°C). However, few people sweat more than normal based on the surrounding temperature, activity levels, or stress.

Imagine going on first date or appearing for an interview and despite putting your best efforts, you end up appearing in a ‘sweaty shirt’ at the event. Wouldn’t it be embarrassing for you?

Excessive sweating can cause social anxiety and embarrassment, however, sweating under certain conditions is common but if there is excessive sweating that you cannot avoid even on the coldest days of the year, then you may be suffering from HYPERHIDROSIS.

What is hyperhidrosis?

It is a condition, wherein one faces wet palms, sweaty soles and causes the need to change clothes and footwear more often than usual. Hyperhidrosis can either be generalized (affecting the entire body) or localized (to particular parts of the body.)

Generalised hyperhidrosis:
This condition often results from underlying problems like metabolic disorders, diabetes, infections, thyroid disorders or even lymphatic tumours. Hormonal changes caused due to menopause, anxiety or as a result of certain medications like antidepressants or pain killers can trigger abnormal sweating. In simple words, this basically means that the sweat glands are overactive and are producing more than what is required to cool down your body. If you sweat all the time you should speak to your doctor for the concerns.

Localized hyperhidrosis:

As the word localized suggests it is more to do with minor issues within the nervous system. This mainly affects areas like palms, armpits, and soles of the feet. It is also called as primary focal hyperhidrosis and can run in families too. If not taken care, such excessive sweating can also lead to dandruff, hair issues and skin problems.

Bromhidrosis:

When excessive sweating is associated with bad odour, it is referred to as bromhidrosis. Normally sweat doesn't have an odour; it is when it encounters with bacteria on skin the smell can emerge. It can be a difficult condition, but it’s treatable for many people.

For some, it wouldn't bother but on the other hand constantly being conscious, avoiding handshake, soggy shoes, showering multiple times a day and needing to use extra products to keep dry can be overly time and energy consuming. So, don’t let sweat stain out your confidence, treat it with homeopathy.

Here’s how homeopathy can help treat excessive sweating -

Using antiperspirants or talcum powders are only a temporary solution, this can suppress sweating and its odour. But, homeopathy treats excessive sweating from the root taking into consideration underlying disorders such as thyroid problems, diabetes, hot flushes with menopause, obesity, and hormonal imbalance.
