If you are having 3 or more of the following symptoms then you may most likely have Hyperthyroid.

Immediate medical attention is required when the patient would suffer from dizziness; shortness of breath; elevated blood pressure; loss of consciousness or fast irregular heart rate. Hyperthyroidism is the over-activity of the thyroid gland. It affects females 5-10 times more than males. It can occur at any age but is common between the age group of 20-40.

Excess iodine; tumors of the ovaries or testes, non-cancerous tumors of the thyroid or pituitary gland, inflammation of the thyroid gland or Thyroiditis; large amount of thyroid hormones taken through supplements or medications are known to cause Hyperthyroidism.

Hyperthyroidism and Hairloss

Hyperthyroidism causes general hairloss on the scalp making hair thin and sparse. Many patients also do not realize that their hair loss may be triggered by a thyroid disorder. They keep trying to manage their hair loss with different oils, shampoos, parlor therapies or even medications, but with no results. However when they visit a trichologist for their hair problems, based on their history and clinical signs, they are advised investigations, which confirm the suspicion of thyroid problem being the culprit.

Sometimes hyperthyroidism can also trigger patchy hair loss- alopecia areata. Smooth bald patches may spontaneously appear over the scalp in this condition.

Your trichologist will order a simple blood test, when you present with symptoms that indicate thyroid disease to confirm the diagnosis. When the cause of hair loss due to thyroid disorder is established, the next step is to treat the hormonal imbalance. Once this is done, hairloss automatically comes under control.

Homoeopathy

Homoeopathy helps to produce thyroid hormone naturally by stimulating the immune system and helps in better functioning of the thyroid gland.

Homoeopathic remedies work by stimulating the body’s own healing capacity by encouraging the body to reactivate hormone secretions.

Homeopathy is free from any side-effects. Not only do homoeopathic medicines reduce hairloss but they also protect the body from harmful side-effects that are common with conventional drugs.

Stress causes hormonal disturbances in the body like thyroid problems which are known to cause hairloss and is very effectively treated with homeopathy.

Homoeopathy is a mind-body medicine. Homoeopathy treats not only the physical complaints, but also targets the mind and gently restores mind-body equilibrium- thus it treats the patient as a whole. This makes homoeopathy an excellent solution for hair problems related to the mind such as stress related patchy hairloss (alopecia areata) or stress induced massive hair shedding.

If a patient is suffering from significant abnormal levels of thyroid hormones then homoeopathy can be taken with conventional medicines and slowly the doses of conventional medicine can be tapered when the thyroid hormones are back to normal. Homoeopathic medicines can be continued to prevent recurrence.
