Hair Fall
April 26, 2017 , Last updated: October 14, 2024

35years Dimple was suffering from hypothyroid since 3 years. She was taking conventional medicine for her ailment. Over a period of time she noticed that her hair appeared to be thinner. Since last 6months her scalp had become more visible at the side of the head and the top of head. There was increase in hairfall with dryness of hair. She first took treatment from her regular doctor but it did not help much. Then she consulted a homeopath as her condition got worse on recommendation of a close associate. After her detailed case analysis she was told by the homoeopath that she was losing hair because of her hypothyroid problem. She was asked to repeat the blood test for thyroid. It was found that her TSH had increased. She was then advised homoeopathic medicine along with dietary advice and exercises as she had also put on some weight. Hairfall improved steadily and new hair growth was seen both at the temporal region and at on top of the head.

Many patients also do not realize that their hair loss may be triggered by a thyroid disorder. They keep trying to manage their hair loss with different oils, shampoos, parlor therapies or even medications, but with no results. However when they visit a trichologist for their hair problems, based on their history and clinical signs, they are advised investigations, which confirm the suspicion of thyroid problem being the culprit.

Hypothyroidism makes hair dry, brittle, coarse and sparse, on the outer edge of the eyebrows.

Sometimes apart from diffuse hair loss all over the scalp, hypothyroid can also trigger patchy hair loss- alopecia areata. Smooth bald patches may spontaneously appear over the scalp in this condition.

Your trichologist will order a simple blood test, when you present with symptoms that indicate thyroid disease to confirm the diagnosis. When the cause of hair loss due to thyroid disorder is established, the next step is to treat the hormonal imbalance. Once this is done, hairloss automatically comes under control.

Healing with Homeopathy

Homoeopathy helps to produce thyroid hormone naturally by stimulating the immune system and helps in better functioning of the thyroid gland.

Homoeopathic remedies work by stimulating the body’s own healing capacity by encouraging the body to reactivate hormone secretions.

Homeopathy is free from any side-effects. Not only do homoeopathic medicines reduce hairloss but they also protect the body from harmful side-effects that are common with conventional drugs.

Stress causes hormonal disturbances in the body like thyroid problems which are known to cause hairloss and is very effectively treated with homeopathy.

Homoeopathy is a mind-body medicine. Homoeopathy treats not only the physical complaints, but also targets the mind and gently restores mind-body equilibrium- thus it treats the patient as a whole. This makes homoeopathy an excellent solution for hair problems related to the mind such as stress related patchy hairloss (alopecia areata) or stress induced massive hair shedding.

Homoeopathy helps to slow down the progression of the patchy hair loss and fill them up with new hair. A complete recovery is possible in most cases with homoeopathy. Hypothyroid is a known triggering factor for patchy hair loss and homoeopathy treats thyroid problems very effectively.
