Tanu, 25 year old BPO employee came with fleshy eruptions on the beard. He had developed just 1 eruption 10days ago and had been to a cosmetologist who cauterized the eruption.  After this instead of being done with the growth, more growths erupted all over the beard and neck. It became an embarrassment for him. He then visited a homoeopathic doctor who told him that he had developed warts and after detailed case history he was prescribed homoeopathic medicines. His happiness knew no bounds as all the warts cleared up in 15days.

Warts

Warts are small benign growths on the skin. They are generally painless. Warts are contagious by nature and can spread from infected to person to another. They can even tend to spread easily from one part of the body to another in the same individual. Warts are caused by a virus called the Human Papilloma Virus (HPV). Warts can be quite disfiguring at times – a source of cosmetic and social embarrassment.

There are several types of warts. Some common variants are:

  • Flat warts (small and only slightly raised above the skin)
  • Filiform warts (long, narrow, filamentous)
  • Plantar warts (Painful variety that occur on the soles)
  • Genital warts or condyloma (Highly contagious; sexually transmitted variety of warts)

Genital warts are growths in and around the genital area i.e. the vagina, penis and rectum. They usually affect sexually active people mostly between the age of 19 and 30. People who have multiple sexual partners and a history of sexually transmitted diseases are the most vulnerable. They can spread through any type of sexual contact including oral sex. They can also spread from a lady to her foetus when the baby is passing through the birth canal while giving birth.
