Does your child have trouble paying close attention to details? Does your little one have trouble holding attention on to tasks and faces difficulty with structured schoolwork? Does the apple of your eye appear to be forgetful in daily activities? If you notice something off with your child’s behavior in general, then it is wise that you should get an expert opinion to diagnose whether your child is just being naughty or is it ADHD.

ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder) is a mental disorder that is characterized by hyperactivity, difficulty in paying attention, behavioral problems and impulsiveness. ADHD in children is a common phenomenon, but it doesn’t just affect children – it affects adults as well.

ADHD symptoms can be identified as below:

Symptoms for ADHD can be broadly categorized into the following 3 groups:

  1. Hyperactivity

These are the key behaviors of ADHD. However, in kids, the most common ADHD symptom is hyperactivity. Though it is normal to have some trouble in focusing, anxiety and impulsiveness but people with ADHD have frequent occurrences and with a higher intensity as well.

Let us have a look at the causes of ADHD:

  • Smoking or Alcohol consumption by mothers during pregnancy.
  • Heredity or genes.
  • Less than adequate weight during birth.
  • Injuries to the brain.
  • Environmental toxins like lead poisoning at a young age.

How can it be treated?

There are many treatment options available out there for ‘ADHD treatment’ and the most popular ones are either:

  1. Through medication – Use of stimulants, non-stimulants or antidepressants.
  2. Through therapy – Parents and teachers can help children and therapists with stress management techniques and support groups can help adults.

But the major drawback with conventional treatment methods especially which involves medications is that it has side-effects like decreased appetite and sleeping troubles.

This is where homeopathy emerges as an effective method for the treatment of ADHD as homeopathy has proven that it can treat ADHD with a success rate better than that of conventional treatment methods. The major advantage of homeopathy is that it treats ADHD without any side-effects and it also increases the quality of life as well.
