Nothing can be more disconcerting for a woman affected with less hair on scalp and excess facial and body hair. High levels of male hormones in females cause thick facial hair (Hirsuitism) and patterned hair loss on head. This is called as Androgenic Alopecia or Female Patterned Baldness. This makes it difficult to regrow hair on the head in women suffering of PCOS.

Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) is a disorder in which a woman’s hormones are out of balance. This condition builds up a number of cysts in the ovaries along with high testosterone (Male hormone) levels, lack of healthy egg production and other physical disturbances.

Women with PCOS tend to have irregular menses and sometimes menses may stop, they could face difficulty in conceiving, find it very difficult to reduce weight, have acne on face, may have excessive hair growth on their face which is known as Hirsuitism, may suffer of depression and mood swings.

Stress and life style changes are one of the major causes of PCOS in females. Ovarian cysts could co-exist with thyroid problem (most often hypothyroidism). The diagnosis of PCOS is confirmed by doing a pelvic Ultrasonography, blood tests for oestrogen levels, testosterone levels, follicular stimulating hormone and luteinizing hormone levels.  PCOS along with underlying thyroid problem often contribute to hairloss and weight problems. Nutritional deficiencies along with PCOS like low iron levels, Low Vitamin B12 levels and Low Vitamin D3 levels could add fuel to the fire for hair loss.

Homeopathic Management of PCOS and Hairloss

Homoeopathic medicines show good long term response in PCOS and Hairloss.

Conventional medicines have no cure for PCOS but have medicines which suppress the cysts formation and long term use could lead to cervical/ uterus cancer. Elimination of the disease is more important than suppressing the symptoms. Homeopathy treats PCOS very effectively with zero side-effects.

Homoeopathy is a holistic medicine and treats the patient as well as the pathology.  Hence PCOS and Hair loss can be simultaneously treated in Homoeopathy without having 10 different medicines unlike conventional medicines.

Homeopathy helps to prevent recurrence of the disease and has high success rates in treating cases of PCOS and Hairloss unlike conventional medicine. Homoeopathy prevents the recurrence of disease.

Stress in females which are the major cause of PCOS and Hairloss can be very effectively treated with homoeopathy.

Homoeopathy treats not only all physical complaints, but also targets the mind and gently restores mind-body equilibrium - thus it treats the patient as a whole.

Homoeopathy has remedies such as Thuja Occidentalis and Sabal Serrulata which have been very effective in treating hair loss. These two homeopathic medicines are cited with natural DHT- inhibitor action i.e. they control hairloss caused by DHT without side-effects.
