Seborrhoeic Dermatitis and Homoeopathy
Seborrhoeic dermatitis is a severe form of dandruff. Seborrhoeic dermatitis is non-contagious. Exact cause of Seborrhoeic dermatitis is unknown but a yeast named Malassezia furfur is believed to cause the inflammatory condition on the scalp. A weak immune system makes a person prone to Seborrhoeic dermatitis. Stress, fatigue and sleep deprivation are known to worsen the condition.
Seborrhoeic dermatitis presents with an inflamed skin covered with flakes majorly over the scalp along with hairloss in most cases. It is also seen on the chest, face, eyelashes, area behind the ears and the back may also get affected by Seborrhoeic dermatitis. Itching and burning is often present in the affected areas. If it is ignored then it may lead to itching, pus-filled boils, infection and destruction of the eyelids and eyebrows, Pityriasis amantacea (severe form of dandruff), sebo-psoriasis, exacerbation may be seen with progression in HIV patients.
