Are you under the impression that acne is just a red spot? Well, read on to know the different types of acne and how homeopathy treats holistically.

Types of acne

Acne presents itself in many shapes and sizes, including whiteheads, blackheads, papules, pustules, nodules and cysts. Let’s have a look at the different types of acne.

  • Whiteheads

Whiteheads are one of the types of acne that develop underneath the skin’s surface. This happens when oil and skin cells stop a clogged hair follicle from opening. Different factors contribute to whiteheads such as oily skin, hormones, puberty, diet and the use of cosmetics and moisturizers on your face.

  • Blackheads

Blackheads aren’t covered by skin. Instead, they’re open at the surface of the skin. They’re filled with excess oil and dead skin cells. It's not dirt that causes to turn black. The black type results from the irregular reflection of light coming from clogged hair follicles. Possible causes of a blackhead include oily skin, irritated hair follicle, hormones, diet, and skin-care products. Some medications can trigger blackheads.

  • Papules

Papules become inflamed, forming small red or pink bumps on the skin. This type of acne might be sensitive to the touch. Picking or squeezing can make the inflammation worse and might lead to scarring. A large number of papules might indicate moderate to severe acne.

  • Pustules

Pustules are another kind of inflamed acne. They look like a whitehead with a red ring around the bump. The bump is usually filled with white or yellow pus. Avoid picking or squeezing pustules as it can cause scars or dark spots to develop on the skin.

  • Nodules

Nodular acne is a severe type of acne characterized by large, hard bumps underneath the skin’s surface. This type of acne involves bacteria and develops when the walls of a pore break down. Consequently, bacteria and oil extend deeper into the skin, affecting other pores. They are quite often excruciating.

  • Cysts

Cysts are big, pus-filled lesions that look similar to boils. Similar to nodules, cysts can be excruciating.

If you develop nodules and cysts, then you are usually considered to have a more severe form of acne. What they all have in common is that they can be treated, if treated on time.

Remedies for acne

Since acne might significantly reduce the quality of life of affected individuals, there is a constant need for treatment options. Any therapy that might diminish the morbidity of acne is always welcome. Isn’t it? And homeopathy provides a viable option, alongside other established options. Homeopathy offers the promise of such and its potential deserves to be explored. Homeopathy is a system that is relatively safe and cheap and is increasing in popularity.

It can be said that homeopathy is effective in the treatment of acne of all degrees of severity. The therapy of acne using homeopathic medicines does not require maintenance treatment and its effect is long-lasting. The individualized homeopathic treatment makes it one of the best remedies for acne.

Homeopathic medicines might be useful as a stand-alone treatment of patients with severe acne. A case series recommended a remission rate of more than 80% using individualized homeopathic treatment. The homeopathy treatment remained effective long after cessation and is not accompanied by significant side effects.

Conclusion

It is highly recommended to take the skin evaluation test in order to assess the current state of your skin condition. Book an appointment with your homeopath as soon as you notice acne symptoms. It is always better to seek treatment before your skin condition gets worse.
