Are you embarrassed by your warts? Even though skin warts are harmless, they can be very disfiguring. Warts (verruca) are small, non-cancerous, painless growths on the skin. Let’s learn more about the types of warts and homeopathy treatment.

Types of warts

There are several types of warts. Some common variants are:

  • Common warts

Common warts are also called vulgar warts. They are common types of warts that appear on the backs of your hands and fingers. The sizes of these differ from small ones, having a diameter of about 3mm, to large ones with a diameter up to 1 cm. They vary in color due to skin color and may be white, pink, grey, yellow, or brown. They feel rough and hard to the touch.

  • Flat warts

This type of warts appears on the hands (mainly back of hands). They are also known as plane warts. They are small in size, not more than 3 mm, and can appear in clusters (groups). They have a flat top and are smooth to the touch. Their color is yellow, brown, or skin-colored.

  • Palmar warts

These warts tend to occur from picking at plantar warts (warts that occur on soles of feet). These warts vary in color and can be painful. When they appear in groups, these are called mosaic warts.

  • Periungual and subungual warts

Periungual warts appear around fingernails. Subungual warts occur under fingernails. Nail-biting and hangnails make a person prone to get these warts. Initially, they begin as small growths and tend to get bigger in size later. They can also appear in groups. They can spread under the nail bed. In this case, it can lead to the fungal infection of nails and the disfiguration or permanent damage to the nails.

  • Butchers’ warts

These warts have a cauliflower-like appearance. Such warts occur to those who handle raw meat frequently without gloves.

Treatment options

Conventional methods of treatment for skin warts are contact immunotherapy, cryosurgery, electrocautery, curettage, excision, and laser. But there can be possible side-effects to these methods. It can be painful, invasive, and leads to scarring. That’s where homeopathy comes into the picture.

For over 200 years, homeopathic doctors have seen the success of homeopathy in the treatment of warts. Whether it is to get rid of current warts, prevent the formation of new ones or heal the propensity to develop warts, homeopathy has a solution.
