What does psoriasis look like on the scalp?
Scalp psoriasis is characterized by the flaking of the scalp where one can see visible red patches of skin covered with thick, silvery white scales often associated with itching.

At the last stage scalp psoriasis, hair loss is quite possible.

The exact cause of scalp psoriasis is still not known but it is believed it happens when a person’s immune system is not working properly. A person suffering from this condition may produce more of certain types of white blood cells called T cells and neutrophils. The main job of these T cells is to travel throughout our body and fight off the bacteria and viruses that are present in our body.
But if a person has too many T cells in the body, then they may begin to attack the healthy cells by mistake and produce many skin cells. This can cause redness, inflammation, patches and flaking in the case of scalp psoriasis.
