We all have the urge to go outside and enjoy the great outdoors. When that feeling turns to the grief and pain of allergy symptoms, your joy can quickly disappear. We know that the symptoms of allergies can make you feel downright miserable. What can you do to ease your discomfort? Read on to know the answers you're looking for.

What are allergies?

Your immune system regularly produces antibodies to protect you from outside invaders like viruses and microbes. When you have allergies, your immune system identifies an allergen as an invader that is harmful to your body. An allergic response occurs when the body encounters a harmful substance. These substances are classified as allergens. The immune system responds by making an antibody named immunoglobulin E (IgE). The resulting symptoms are your body's allergic response. Common allergens include:

  • Pollen
  • Food
  • Drugs
  • Animal saliva and dander
  • Latex
  • Mold
  • Insects that sting or bite

What are the symptoms of allergies?

Most symptoms of an allergic response will make you feel uncomfortable, but some of them will make you just miserable. The most common allergy symptoms include itchy, watery eyes, runny nose, sore throat, sneezing or a rash or hives. More serious reactions might include swelling in your mouth or throat or breathing trouble. This reaction is classified as anaphylaxis.

Diagnosis of allergies

Diagnosis of allergies is conducted in three ways.

  1. Case history and evaluation:

The homeopath takes your detailed case history to determine the symptoms and the triggers of the allergy. Typically, a thorough sitting with the homeopath is sufficient to generally diagnose the types of allergies and the trigger.

  2. Physical examination:

The homeopaths examine the patient’s airway passage and skin and conduct a general examination to look for symptoms and manifestations of allergies.

  3. Tests:

Blood IgE tests show whether you’ve got a tendency to develop frequent allergies. A skin allergy test might be recommended to classify skin allergens. This test might be recommended to understand the exact trigger.
