25 years old Pooja suffered from a lot of stress regarding her job. She suddenly started gaining weight and would get easily tired with severe cramps in the legs. She visited her local doctor and she was advised vitamin supplementations considering that she had become weak. After taking the vitamin supplementations the cramps were a bit better but no changes in weight. Then on recommendation of a colleague in office she visited a homoeopath. After a detailed case study she was advised to check the hemoglobin level and thyroid hormones. Her blood reports showed that she suffered from abnormal thyroid hormone levels which suggested of hypothyroid. She was then given homoeopathic medicines and diet changes and exercises were recommended for weight loss. After a month of homoeopathic treatment she was asked to repeat the thyroid blood test. It was within normal levels. She slowly and steadily lost excess weight, cramps in legs had disappeared and was able to handle the job stress effectively too. She continued homoeopathic treatment for a year and the thyroid hormones never showed abnormal again.

Hypothyroid occurs when the thyroid gland fails to produce enough thyroid hormones. Hypothyroid is more common in women than men and the incidences increases with age. Hashimoto’s Thyroiditis (thyroid gland enlarges and forms goitre), Thyroid destruction following secondary to radioactive surgery, severe iodine deficiency and ‘Stress’ are known to cause Hypothyroid. A routine blood test for thyroid hormones would confirm the diagnosis.

Healing with Homoeopathy

Homoeopathy helps to produce thyroid hormone naturally by stimulating the immune system and helps in better functioning of the thyroid gland.

Homoeopathic remedies work by stimulating the body’s own healing capacity by encouraging the body to reactivate hormone secretions.

Homeopathy is free from any side-effects.

Stress causes hormonal disturbances in the body like thyroid problems s and is very effectively treated with homeopathy.

Homoeopathy is a mind-body medicine. Homoeopathy treats not only the physical complaints, but also targets the mind and gently restores mind-body equilibrium- thus it treats the patient as a whole.

If a patient is taking conventional medicine for hypothyroid, they can continue taking the medicine with homoeopathic medicine. Slowly and steadily when the thyroid hormones come to normalcy the conventional medicine can be tapered off and the person can continue with homoeopathy to avoid recurrence.
