Obesity

We are discussing the most common concern of most women and men. We try out all types of diets, undergo rigorous exercises, walks, etc and find good results but as soon as we stop we gain more weight than before.  So, whenever you are facing such a situation in life make it sure that you are not suffering from a thyroid disease.

It generally happens when the thyroid gland is underactive, producing inadequate amounts of hormone and slowing down the metabolism. In hypothyroid there is unexplained weight gain even when the diet and appetite have not changed.

Why do we gain weight when thyroid gland becomes underactive?

It has been known for a very long time that there is a complex relationship between thyroid disease, body weight and metabolism. Thyroid hormone regulates metabolism in both animals and humans. Metabolism is determined by measuring the amount of oxygen used by the body over a specific amount of time. If the measurement is made at rest, it is known as basal metabolic rate i.e. BMR.

Individuals whose thyroid glands underactive were found to have low BMR’s and those with overactive thyroid glands had high BMR.

Since the BMR in a person suffering from hypothyroid is decreased, an underactive thyroid is generally associated with some weight gain. The weight gain is often greater in those persons with more severe hypothyroidism. The cause of weight gain in a hypothyroid individual is also complex, and not always related to accumulation of excess fat. It is more due to excess accumulation of salt and water.

In general, 2.5 – 5kg body weight may be attributable to the thyroid, depending on the severity of the hypothyroidism.

Hypothyroid needs to be dealt with a safe and natural medicine so that they thyroid gland can once again start its normal function. A good nutritious meal which not only helps the thyroid to reverse to normal but also helps boost metabolism is also important with regular exercises.

Homoeopathy… The Natural Thyroid Healer…

Homoeopathy helps to produce thyroid hormone naturally by stimulating the immune system and helps in better functioning of the thyroid gland.

Homoeopathic remedies work by stimulating the body’s own healing capacity by encouraging the body to reactivate hormone secretions.

Homeopathy is free from any side-effects.

Stress causes hormonal disturbances in the body like thyroid problems and is very effectively treated with homeopathy.

Homoeopathic medicine helps to increase metabolism and treats obesity very effectively.

Self Care Tips

Since our system is already stressed and has lead to an imbalance in the thyroid hormone, feeding our body with the right foods is very necessary to help our system to be less burdened and make an environment of recovery possible.

Autoimmune conditions are taken care off when the immunity of our body is back to normal. The foods we eat are also responsible for our immunity to be at par.

Start your morning with plenty of fruits. Fruits contain natural fibers which help to have good bowel movement and helps in the process of elimination. Papaya, Banana, Apple, Pomegranate, Black Dates, Black Raisins, Soaked Dried figs are most preferable. Having a glass of cinnamon water is of great help.

Fruits should always be eaten alone and not as a dessert.

Prefer Juicy before dry foods.

Prefer easy to digest foods before longer to digest foods.

Eat salads, vegetable juices before cooked, fried and non-vegetarian foods. Raw salads aid easy digestion.

Reduce the intake of wheat, bread and pastas. Eat more veggies instead, alternate with Bajra, Jowar, makai.

Cut down/ eliminate meat and dairy products.

Cut/ eliminate sugar from the diet and you can use organic jaggery/ honey/ black dates syrup instead.

Cut/ eliminate refined and processed foods as they are very complex for our body to understand and will utilize more energy from our body to digest them which makes us even more fatigued.

Include nuts or fresh fruits or dry fruits as snacks especially between 4-6p.m.

Never eat when you are stressed, depressed, angry, anxious or hurried. It changes the body chemistry and our body is unable to digest. Undigested food is highly toxic.

Only fruits, vegetables, nuts, dry-fruits, herbs-spices, sprouted seeds can heal us.
